Larry has been a part of the social work and mental health fields since 2013. After graduating from Weatherford College with an Associate’s degree in Forensic Science, and from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Larry moved from Texas to North Carolina. It was here that Larry realized his true passion lay in supporting individuals, groups, and families in a more direct, therapeutic setting. Larry went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Social Work from North Carolina Central University in Durham. He has experience working in a variety of settings, including community-based therapy, systems coordination, non-profit organizations, foster care, and residential treatment facilities.
Larry’s specializes in assisting children, adolescents, and adults with trauma, intellectual/developmental disabilities, anxiety, depression, co-occurring disorders, relationship challenges, difficult family dynamics, and building self-regulation skills. He believes in building a therapeutic environment that is collaborative, while supporting people to actualize their personal strengths and be their authentic selves. Larry utilizes a hybrid of therapeutic techniques such as Trauma-Informed Care, Expressive/Play Therapy, DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and Motivational Interviewing; all rooted in the core of Strengths-Based Therapy and Positive Psychology.
